Oak wilt is a fungal disease which can kill an oak tree in a few weeks. It is spread by beetles which are active in the spring and early summer. It can also spread between trees through their interconnected root system. Oak wilt has been seen in Ottawa County.

  • Do not prune oaks between April 15 and July 15
  • If an oak is damaged during this time, be sure to use pruning sealer to protect it
  • Do not move firewood from infected trees
